love the 5.0.0.230... only issue i have is 50 minute continuous phone call rebooting the phone. wouldn't go back to 4 for nothing. although i would defenitly make sure you pay the bill. there seems to be a new thing now with phone going into reboot mode. i can't be positivie yet, but i paid the bill and took to store to which they reloaded 4. and phone was working. lesson learned. will defenitely do backup when that time comes again. will see if i hvae to load 4 again and reinstall 5 next time that happens. usually if bill not paid, i quit making calls. then internet quits, then ca't receive calls. but last time that happened i had 4 installed.

you should try the hybrid os, blackberry app world works with it. http://forums.crackberry.com/f95/birdman-s-5-0-8330-hybrids-v6-378596/

there is a beta for the tour, and as far as the hybrid goes, I just switched to it today so if i encounter anything specific i'll let you know. a hybrid os is a combination of different operating systems from the same device or sometimes from another device the good news is the app support. the beta .230 has horrible application support and the hybrid makes up for that

i jsut installed. totally different OS. i am guessing it's from the curve2. but i could be wrong. i am liking this though. i liked 5. but this is even nicer as now my phone operates the same as everyone else i know that has a more recent blackberry. so now i finally have a relic that operates like today's models. that would most defenitely be sweet if we could run some apps that are updated instead of being left in the dust with older versions. i'm still playing around with this. gonna try a different install over what the instructions say. right now it is taking up 6 more megs. and rreboot it 1 minute longer. but so far i am most defenitly loving this. can't wait to put it to actual use.

it is from the curve 2, apps from the curve 2 work on it.

so your say i need to use apps for 8530 model now? no more 8330? how bout pic texts? any idea if there an improvement or is the same basic method still used. i have sprint. i'm hoping it works like verizon where the pics come up instead of opening a link. i've wiped out the phone and see what happens with the hybrid file ONLY. the first load was the copy file into the install file method. this might be an allnighter for me tonight. LOL

i'm not sure man i've only had it up and running for a few hours, i posted the link right after the install. I had an issue with an 8330 theme, but nothing big so far. interestingly enough I ran some tour apps on it as well. edit - I'm on verizon so i'm not sure if it will be any different for you.

well, i did ota for one program. got the old version. see what happens now with hybrid only file. don't know if you found out. but my last install i did. i had 5 megs left. before wipeout. i saved all the programs i had. reloaded phone and programs. had 20 megs left. apparently the download of program takes up more space then the actuall installation. just a little FYI.

thanks for the info. at the moment I'm trying another installation with the original .230 combined with the hybrid files to see if it affects anything.

the hybrid file only installation bumped my available memory from 26 to 41. i didn't have any options to check when the loader.exe kicked in. just the programs. none of that language or other stuff one probably don't need. so i'm sticking with that method. i've never had 41 megs before after clean install. always had 30 left to play with. after i get everything download and installed i'm left with roughly 7 megs. this morning i did a clean install and installed all backed up programs. i still had 20 megs left. that's where i figured out that installation hogs up memory. i also didn't do documents 2 go. never used it before. gonna download all the apps. in hopes of getting some updated stuff. back up the apps. and do another reload. then i be ready for testing. i'm thinking i should hve about 30 megs once i all done. never had that kinda room before with stock 5.0. reload.

Shameless plug ---> http://www.nathanix.com Just so happens that the Nathanix BB Resource 8330 Hybrid is the hands down fastest, smoothest and most durable OS 5.0 solution for the Curve 8330. Cheggitout!
